Welcome to The Greg Norman Golf Foundation
The home of Junior Golf in Queensland, Australia.
It was early in 1987 that Merv Norman, father of that famous Australian golfer, Greg, wrote to major companies advising of the intention of forming a Foundation to fund the tuition of Queensland junior golfers. His letter, in part, read:
"Probably more than any other sport, the game of golf requires self-discipline and determination - qualities that help to build character and personal strength in our young people, and it is on our young people that the future of golf and of our country rests. It is therefore beneficial that we encourage young people to take up the game, to help them develop positive skills and attitudes and to progress through further play and competition to succeed in life.
My son Greg came through these junior ranks and now he has specifically requested the formation of the Greg Norman Golf Foundation to enable him to contribute to the development and expansion of the playing of golf by juniors. He will actively support the Foundation on a personal basis, as his time and schedules permit. The Foundation will provide professional guidance and instruction throughout Queensland to school students and those in other educational establishments, children with specific physical disabilities and junior members of golf clubs."
And so the Foundation was born. It constituted on 25th June 1987 and incorporated in January 1988.
The Foundation's aim is to bring out the best by promoting the very highest standards for junior golf, to prepare young golfers for the future and to bring professional golf tuition within the reach of interested people in Queensland. In striving to achieve these aims the Foundation will:Actively support the provision of golf tuition and advice to juniors under 18 years of age throughout the state. Conduct golf tuition camps, and provide education materials to schools and golf clubs. Conduct golf tournaments throughout Queensland for juniors. Conduct Level "0" and Level "1" Accreditation courses. Conduct professional golf tuition to the disabled and indigenous people.
Many outstanding junior golfers have benefited from the Foundation, the most notable being Karrie Webb,Adam Scott, and current World Junior Champion Jason Day.
The Greg Norman Golf Foundation is the Shark's contribution to Queensland golf.
TODAY
Greg Norman continues to support the Foundation whenever possible.
Children aged between 5 to 17 years are introduced to golf through the Foundation by clinics, camps, visits to schools, and a series of 9 Hole beginner/18 Hole all levels/elite junior golf tournaments held throughout Queensland.
GOLF PROFESSIONALS
The Foundation has become very active in the State with the employment of four PGA Golf Professionals positioned from the Far North through to the Far West and continuing down to the New South Wales border. This has enabled our country areas in particular, the opportunity to experience golf. Our Golf Professionals from Monday to Friday are very busy travelling to Primary Schools all over the State introducing the Wilson Go-Go Golf and Golf for Schools Program. On the weekends and School Holidays the Golf Professionals provide their services to clubs with no resident Golf Professional by conducting clinics and camps, and attending junior golf tournaments. The Foundation Golf Professionals also assist in many District camps & clinics, and State Government Department sports tours. Accrediting PE Teachers and people alike to continue the tuition of golf to Queensland juniors is another role played.
CLINICS
In the South-East Queensland region, clinics are held predominantly on Sunday mornings at a series of golf clubs for junior members of the Foundation. The local Golf Professional of the club which run the clinics, do so under the banner of the Greg Norman Golf Foundation. This enables juniors who are not yet members of Golf Clubs the opportunity to develop their game prior to joining a Club either as a sub-junior member or a full paying member. For details on these clinics, click on Golfing Events on the menu bar. The Foundation is looking to increase clinics throughout Queensland by inviting Club Professionals to run clinics under the banner of the Foundation. Club Professionals should contact us on 07 3216 0552 for further details.
TOURNAMENTS

A SPIRIT OF ACHIEVEMENT
Golf builds character and personal strength and offers good cheer and friendship to its players. It requires determination, skill, a true spirit and dedication to succeed. These are qualities embodied in one of its greatest champions, Greg Norman; and they are qualities that the Greg Norman Golf Foundation aims to foster in the youth of Queensland.
